{simply sweet | goodbye cancer}

Today's Simply Sweet post is dedicated to my mom, Elena. Last fall she was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer. It's times like these that words fail you. What do you say? What do you do?

We rallied, we loved, we womaned up and got things done. My mom walked into UMC like she owned the place. "We are here".. I can hear her voice now. Just as if you were checking into a spa appointment. Cancer wasn't going to get us down. Not this family. Not these ladies. I brought my computer and set up my office at UMC. Nothing and no one was going to get in the way of my being there. I was with my mom every moment that I could be. I held her hand and told her how much I loved her. We had our pink manicures all ready for the occasion. It was scary but we pushed through it. She did it all...she was the strong one. She is unstoppable.

UMC took amazing care of my mom and the next day we were on our way home to relax and recoup.

Today she is 100% cancer free, and words fail me again. I am grateful, I am blessed, and most of all honored to have such an amazing woman as my mother.
I love you Elena Turco.
