{to sigh for | buddha board}

Happy Tuesday!
Normally for our to sigh for segments we talk about beauty products or amazing interior finishes. Not today. Today is all about the Buddha Board!

My dear friend Enrique gave this to my sister and I for Christmas. It's one of my favorite things in the office. It comes in many colors, but I think that the original is the best.

We tend to have a lot of impromptu cocktail hours here at the office, and now we have a little something extra to add to the mix. I still need a lot of practice in using it, but here are some shots from it's first cocktail hour:

{within-spiration | creating an inspiration board}

Today's Within-spiration comes from my desk. As I was organizing the office last week I realized how much I really loved having an inspiration zone. My desk is typically very organized, but my inspiration pin board is never organized. It's the one space that I can just put things randomly (well artistically randomly). Here is a snapshot of what it looks like today. I've posed about it in the past but it changes a few times a year. So what inspires me? Right now on the board we have:

  • a postcard from Europe from my brother Dominic of AZ Foto
  • a letter from one of my employees and dear friend, Natalie
  • a birthday card for Within Studio when we turned 8 years old
  • Dragon napkin holder from a cool restaurant
  • a brochure for Belle Epoque Upholstery because they are awesome
  • a Queen of Clubs from a magician who blew my mind, Kenny Stewart
  • postcard from childhood friend who lives in Seattle
  • business card from client/best friend that lives in Holland: What Else Matters
  • sketch that my sister made of me while I was dressed up as a gangster (you just had to be there)
  • sketch of the Eiffel Tower drawn by my nephew
  • invitation to a beautiful Mexican wedding
  • a students first business card
  • sticky note from Knock Knock given to me by my husband
  • Peanuts Gang ID card from a Halloween event (again you just had to be there)
  • Invitation to our Grand Opening party many years ago
  • Seashells from an island far far away
  • Cashout voucher from various Vegas casinos from my first trip there (all .01 cent)
To summarize, I think that inspiration for 2014 will come from lots of love, friends, parties, and travels. Cheers to a fantastic New Year!

Today’s post is from my real life best friend and all around creative gal, Kelly of Cloudy Day Gray. You could easily adapt this project to spell out any message. I think a happy birthday one is in order.

Let’s celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day this year by creating and displaying something that reminds us to dare to dream big. And to teach our kids the importance of listening to that inner voice that tells us that treating all people equally, no matter what, is the right thing to do.

Supplies: Wire, needle nose pliers, wire cutters, yarn, scissors, and this template.
Process: Shape the wire into the thought bubble and words following the template. Make sure to leave extra wire at the ends to attach to bubble. Wrap the words in yarn and attach to the thought bubble. Then, twist another piece of wire around the thought bubble to hide the connection points of the words and to provide a bit more rigidity. Finally, wrap the thought bubble in yarn, hang, and enjoy!
Time: The entire project took me about five hours from start to finish. It was not difficult, in fact, wrapping the yarn was very relaxing. Now, go make your own!

{within works | 10 must haves for a glam closet}

Good Morning Designistas!
We have to share this project with you! Something we are super excited about!
Our clients' husband reached out to us for a secret mission. He wanted us to transform one of their bedrooms into a master glam closet for his wife. Within Studio to the rescue! The biggest challenge was that we only had a week to get this done. Some HGTV shows will have you thinking that it's totally possible...well it's not. I had the best team a designer could ask for and it was still not finished in a week. Our designs and orders were complete, but custom woodwork takes time. If we would have purchased the closet from Ikea, I'm sure we would have made the deadline. But Ikea was definitely not where we wanted to be. This room needed custom work. Our client was extremely excited and surprised. We don't have the finished photos yet, but we have the inspiration images to share with you.
Isn't it divine?

Here are the items that I absolutely needed to incorporate (and items that I believe are a must in a glam closet)
  1. shoe storage
  2. sitting area
  3. full length mirror
  4. jewelry island
  5. location for a jewelry safe
  6. purse display
  7. lighting (fabulous chandelier and wall sconces) *on DIMMERS*
  8. wood floors (to replace bedroom carpet)
  9. accent tray from Tory Burch
  10. curtains with acrylic rod and rings
Here are the photos of us opening the glorious Tory Burch tray!

I cannot wait to show you the finished product! Before and after photos coming soon!

{to sigh for | tory burch fragrance}

Hello Lovelies!
Happy Tuesday! Today I am sharing something that I am definitely Sighing For over here. I was recently introduced to the Tory Burch's classic fragrance and instantly fell in love!

It's a delicious mix of crisp citrus and floral notes. A little feminine, a little masculine and a lot of fabulousness. It's truly delicious. This is for sure going to be my Spring Scent for 2014. Yumm!
Also, I have to say that no one does packaging like Tory Burch. It's truly an event that you should have a bottle of champagne with. I cannot wait to get mine!
Happy Shopping!

{within-spiration | 1920's style}

Good Morning Designistas!
Today I wanted to share with you my inspiration for a holiday party that I attended in December which was Great Gatsby Style! I went online and found some great tutorials.  This one by MacShadowCombos was very good and historically acurate. Click Here.

So how did I do it? Well, I took my inspiration photos to Hush Salon and had them pin up my long locks into a faux bob. But I knew that I needed accessories so I purchased a necklace from World Market for $16 and had it pinned on my head. Then I went to Target and found some faux pearl necklaces to go with my hand me down Guess dress. You can see the results for yourself!
And so with the help of some fun filters here they are:

Hope this inspires you for your next 20's party!

{within works | home in the desert}

A few years back we finished a gorgous home in the desert. We've decided to keep our client and the interiors private but we are going to give you a peek at the exterior. This home is in the heart of the sonoran desert. Our concept was to make it look like it was rising out of the rocks and give the illusion that it had always been there. We succeeded and the client is so pleased. We used gorgeous copper metal, dark stained wood, and as many natural materials as possible includeing travertine, glass, and earth. All of the rocks used on the house itself were taken from the original site. They go through and through so that as you walk into the home you can see and feel the exterior rock. Truly beautiful. Maybe one day we can show you the interiors...for now...these will have to do:

{to sigh for | best cc cream ever}

Happy New Year! That means it's time for some new face products. Finally! I found my favorite CC Cream and had to share it with you. This one is by Supergoop! Daily Correct SPF 35 (exactly what I need living in the desert). I wouldn't have been able to find this beauty if it wasn't for the help of Birchbox. Thank you Birchbox!

I've got very sensitive skin and dealt with cystic acne for most of my life so I have tried MANY products out there. This corrective coverage cream does not break out my skin. It's really lightweight and fragrance-free. I like to use it on its own on the weekends to protect myself from UV Rays and then it's a great primer as well.  The other great thing is that it comes in two self-adjusting shades so that it can work on a variety of skin tones. Genious! To top that off it uses 100% natural ingredients and antioxidants. Yes!
So there you have it!
Happy Shopping!

{within-spiration | outdoor living 2015}

Good morning lovelies!
Here we are in the middle of winter and I'm already having thoughts of Summer!
So today we share with you summer 2015 inspiration!

So what do we have to look forward to? Colors from the sea, sunkissed colors, corals and blues and citrons with cranberry. And patterns! So much pattern headed our way. Isn't that exciting? Look for bright and abstract graphics layered over and over. Think of a modern Palm Springs.

Aaah isn't that better?
I'm inspired!

{thursdays take two | sister style}

Happy Thursday! Today's Take Two blog post share comes from A Beautiful Mess. I fell in love with their stylish post especially since their pops of RED was so Within!

I remember sitting in front of the tv in the dark morning hours of a snow filled day, just watching the school counties scroll across the bottom of the local news. Elsie and I were also holding our breathe to see greene county scroll past. If we saw greene county then it was offical: snow day! This usually meant going back to bed for few hours, followed by sledding and snow ball fights in the back yard later that afternoon. Even though snow days don't mean what they used to, since work doesn't really get "canceled" exactly. It's still so exciting to wake up to a bunch of snow. Just makes the day fill more full of possiblities. Plus snow is just so pretty. We are thankful we live in a part of the country that gets snow most winters. We teamed up with Joules on this Sister Style for our snowy day attire, and we're feeling pretty cozy. You can find their full range of rain boots and vests over at their shop! :)

For New Years Day, I am NOT working! Instead I am going to virtually shop on Anthropologie for a new winter outfit.
If I was given a gift card for Christmas, then this is what I would purchase:
