{70's Inspiration}

Today we take it to the runway...and to the streets..

and well..everywhere...

lets talk 70's!

Apparently, 70's is where it's at according to Marc by Marc Jacobs.

So lets say hello to shiny silk blouses and mid length skirts!

But what does that mean for our interiors?

Well, lets add some pattern to our walls! Soft and silky but big and bold!

Lets add color splashes! And make it oh so fun, but oh so comfy!

But most of all, add a touch of earth with warm woods and gold details.

Lets take a look!

{etsy loves}

As you know, we love Etsy sooo very much!

Today's Etsy Loves segment focusses on one seller..

Alexandra Grecco!

Here is a little more info..thanks to Etsy!

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I can’t recall the exact moment I decided to launch my own womenswear line, but it started bit by bit. By spring 2010, the “Alexandra Grecco” collection had come together. Since then, I’ve been working to create quality, well-constructed pieces informed by eras that I find inspiring. I also love the idea of providing an alternative, less wasteful approach to the mass-produced fashion mainstream.

I live in Brooklyn, New York, and my collection takes shape in what seems like a constant shuttling from my studio to the garment district in Manhattan. I’ve designed rompers, lingerie, gowns and hair accessories, and whenever possible I love to incorporate vintage materials. In addition to focusing on my spring 2012 collection, I’ve also been working on custom, vintage-inspired wedding gowns.

Apart from creating things, what do you do?
Recently, I’ve been trying to get out on my bike as much as possible. I also enjoy taking pictures with an old Nikkormat film camera that my dad bought decades ago.

Where does your inspiration come from?
I get a lot of inspiration from old movies, fashion history — especially from the Art Deco period —particular photographers (Wendy Bevan comes to mind), and sometimes just everyday things. I was also a ballet dancer growing up, and I think being surrounded by pastel tutus and sequined tiaras from a young age has permanently influenced the materials and the colors to which I’m drawn.

{within eats}

Happy Wednesday!
We have food on our mind...
so today we share with you a post from our dear friends at Babies, Design, & Food
(a lovely blog to follow if you don't already!)
Robin knows how to cook, how to design, and how to be a fabulous mom!
Her daughter Ava is a doll!
So today's post we dedicate to them!
And we thank them for this yummy salad!

Cabbage Salad with Apples, Walnuts & Goat Cheese
1 small cabbage
1/3 cup walnuts
2 TBSP apple cider vinegar
1 TBSP lemon juice
Salt & pepper
1/3 cup olive oil
2 TBSP creme fraiche or heavy cream (I used whole milk)
2 apples
1/3 cup goat cheese, crumbled
Pull off the very thickest outer leaves from the cabbage and rinse whole head. With a large knife, cut out the core and slice the halves crosswise into fine chiffondale.
(Use cabbage as soon as possible for the best nutritional value. The vitamin content diminishes when the cabbage is stored after cutting.)
Toast walnuts in oven preheated to 375 degrees for 8 minutes. (I did this in my toaster oven). Break into pieces and set aside.
Mix together the vinegar, lemon juice, salt, pepper and whisk in the olive oil, then the cream (or milk). Adjust the salt and pepper to taste.
Cut, core and julienne the apples and set aside.
In a large bowl, toss the cabbage, apples, walnuts and goat cheese with the dressing. Let sit 5 minutes, then serve.
Notes: This makes a LOT of salad... Like a lot a lot. If you can find one, a Savoy cabbage is the most tender and sweet variety.
It isn't as smelly (sulphur-like odor) as other types of cabbage and it is the most tender and sweet.
