{sweet friday}

One cannot collect all the beautiful shells on the beach; one can collect only a few, and they are more beautiful if they are few.

Hope you all have a peaceful weekend....

{toms awesome}

I Love TOMS!

Tell me that you know this company!

I was introduced to TOMSa few years back by my fantastic friend and former employee, Amanda.

She gave me my first pair of TOMS Shoes and I adore them!!

So why am I so excited about it?

Well, I know that there is a child out there that has a pair of shoes who never had one before...

simply because I now have a pair..

With every pair purchased, TOMS gives a pair of new shoes to a child in need.

Isn't that fantastic?

There aren't just shoes...but shirts and hoodies...accessories...etc... It's just fabulous!

The One for One it began:

In 2006, American traveler Blake Mycoskie befriended children in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS Shoes, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One. Blake returned to Argentina with a group of family, friends and staff later that year with 10,000 pairs of shoes made possible by TOMS customers

{furniture lab}

Good morning designers!

Hope you had a fantastic weekend! We did!

Last week, we entered a competition hosted by The Furniture Lab.

Have you heard of them?

What a neat company! They've got some of the coolest tables and chairs.

For those of you in the commercial realm, this company is for you!

We entered their Hospitality Design 2011 Competition.

The Challenge:

To design a Graphic Table top that captures the idea of "travel"...

what does "travel" mean to you?

How does someone illustrate that on a table top?

We could do a 24" x 24" Square or a 24"D Circle top....

So we took on this challenge!

We used photography from our dear friend Dominic at AZFoto.

I know we've mentioned him many times before, but he's Fantastic!!

So we go...

Table #1 - Traveling with AZ Foto

Table #2 - The Streets of the World

Table #3 Kids A-Round the World

What do you think?

We'll let you know how the competition turns out!

Until then, cheers my friends!!!

Hope you get a chance to tour the World in your own way this week.

{fun friday}

I came across this image and I had to share.

Towards the end of the week, we typically like to clean up the office and get it ready for the next week...

This image just made me smile.

Cleaning can be fun.

We will channel our inner Snow White and Whistle while we work...

Happy Friday All!

Happy Monday! for our new segment that we will call "Makeovers"

It's time for some Before and After shots, we think...

So we picked up our camera and knocked on a few doors...

Today we'd like to share with you a residence that we worked on recently.  P.S. If I have never told you, our clients are awesome.

This pair was the sweetest couple... wish I could introduce yall!

This home has a ton of history... and it's new owners wanted a re-do.

The past owners had mixed in tons of woods and details and colors and it was just too much for this classic home.

So we went in and cleaned it up!

The kitchen was our biggest challenge.  There was so much going on!

There were different woods and different stains..

there were different pulls with different finishes...

and different details and feet and ooooh my it was pretty bad.

We refaced a few cabinets, re-built a few others..and before we knew it we had matching woods everywhere!

Can you tell the old ones from the new ones?

We reused the original metal accent tiles, because they were beautiful, and used a more organized layout.

The tile counters would collect gunk in the grout, that was replaced with a cream colored Silestone...

beautiful and seamless...

The powder bath needed a little love as well.

We kept the original blue tile, but used another cream tone wall and a Spanish inspired

vanity piece.  I wanted to add storage and a little whimsy to this space.

My clients love modern furniture and fun colors..

they have an art collection to die for..pieces from all over the world.

So we wanted to keep the walls calm so that the art could pop...

we also wanted to show off the beautiful brick throughought the home.

Something that was pretty drastic was the master bedroom.

There was just not enough light...and we wanted to create access to their backyard...

and so it was!

We added a sliding glass door and a window above the bed...

now they can slip to the back and enjoy their morning coffee..

and finally a few shots of the outside... Landscape Design courtesy of the fabulous REALM.

I will share more exterior photos as the plants grow in...for now, just a few shots of

the front courtyard...

That's all for today!

We're back to work!

See you soon!

≈stelly's world≈

Hello out there!

I must say, I'm pretty pumped about being a guest blogger for Within:) Since I can't sit down with you all over a cup o' joe, I thought I'd tell you a little about myself by sharing a few of my favorite people, places, and things!

1. My cowboy boots - I bought these boots in December 2008, and I think I've gotten more use out of them in the past two years than all of my other shoes combined! I very rarely walk out the door without them:)

2. A quote by Rainer Maria Rilke - When I lived in NYC I spent a lot of time browsing boutiques in Brooklyn. I saw this quote on a piece of jewelry in one of those amazing little stores, and to this day it still speaks volumes to my soul. I hope you like it too!
"Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves like locked rooms and like books that are written in a very foreign tongue.
Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them.
And the point is, to live everything.
Live the questions now.
Perhaps you will find them gradually, without noticing it, and live along some distant day into the answer."
Rainer Maria Rilke

3. My brother and one of my best friend's little boys - This is my one and only sibling, and I absolutely adore him! He's one of my best friends, and I'm so proud of the young man he's grown to be. The little guy he's holding has brought much joy to my life as well as my family's, and we are so thankful to be a part of his. Did I mention just how much I love kids:)

4. Lollipop's nose - I love horses! My family no longer owns horses, but my cousin Sarah was kind enough to share her lovely Lollipop with me:) I used to kiss my horses velveteen nose all of time, and it still warms my heart just thinking about it.

5. A wish - Meet Ms. Sophie (left) by MZ Wallace! I'm saving my pennies:) If you don't know just how awesome these bags are, you NEED to. I own Jane (right) in emerald green! Picture this... she's got chocolate patent leather handles and zipper pulls... all trimmed in candy apple red. And girls, to top it all off she's got a plum colored interior and more pockets than you could ever imagine! One of my best investments by far;)

6. NYC (top) and my big backyard (bottom) - I left Louisiana for NYC on a one-way flight after graduating from LSU in 2007. I spent two years living and working in the city that never sleeps, and I am forever grateful for those people who took a chance on me and became part of my dream. I grew up on 26 acres just outside of Washington, LA, where I make my home once again. There's no place like it:)

7. Ritter Sport dark chocolate with whole hazelnuts - People, if you have never tasted the deliciousness that is Ritter Sport chocolate, please, please do yourself a favor and get your hands on some. It is divine! I fell in love with this chocolate while living in NYC thanks to a friend of mine who had just spent the summer studying design in Copenhagen where she was introduced to these small squares of Heaven:)

Until next time!

I wish you much peace and a whole lot of love!
