The Flat Stanley Project

I had never heard of Flat Stanley until 2008, when a friend told us that she was currently babysitting a "flat stanley"...

She went on to tell us the story of this paper doll that travels the globe and photographs with people. Doing a bit of research on Wikipedia, I found out:

~ The project was started in 1995 by Dale Hubert, a 3rd grade schoolteacher in London, Ontario, Canada.

~It is meant to facilitate letter-writing by schoolchildren to each other as they document what Flat Stanley has done with them.

~The Flat Stanley Project provides an opportunity for students to make connections with students of other member schools who've signed up with the project.

~Students begin by reading the book and becoming acquainted with the story. Then they make paper "Flat Stanleys"and keep a journal f
or a few days, documenting the places and activities in which Flat Stanley is involved.
~The Flat Stanley and the journal are mailed to other people who are asked to treat the figure as a visiting guest and add to his journal, then return them both after a period of time.

So, that got me thinking... why not do the same for my nephews? But we needed to have a Flat Stanley that could go anywhere for a long time, not tear, not get lost...and he had to be able to Pose! Thus, we created our BOB!

Bob Ace Johnson, as my nephew calls him, started his travels in Tucson, Arizona...
so far he has travelled in:
Amsterdam, Brazil, Argentina, Cuba, Peru, Mexico, and is currently in Uruguay!

We even started his own Bob Blog Here

Bob travels with a backpack and a notebook. He has specific rules on what he can and cannot do, and all we ask is that people take photos and report back, so our nephews learn Geography! Bob gets passed on from traveller to traveller...and so far, so good! His passport is looking better than mine!

Just another way to think outside of the box!!! Hopefully one day you TOO can have Bob in your home! Bob is on Facebook and on MySpace

So many sites! So many photography ideas! It's all design related!

I am a future bride myself, and there are tons of blogs to choose from! I absolutely love reading them! Wish I had more time to take them all in.

One blogger that I adore, and personally know is Salud Spa Bar

they blend fabulous custom scents!  How wonderful to have your own Wedding scent!! I can't wait to get mine...then whenever I want to remember that amazing day, I just take out a little bottle and spritz I'm there!

Obsessed Much?

At Within, we're a little obsessed with a color.... yup... that would be RED!

Fresh Design

What a great design! Check this out from Arango-Design.com.
For $925 this little device can be yours! Wow.. I think I'll stick with my tea-light, but if you can afford it...here are the details:

"Apollo Fireplace, designed by Wolf Udo Wagner, is an elegant portable fireplace.
It has a brushed stainless steel reservoir lined with cast metal suspended
between two thick clear heat resistant borosilicate glass panels. Apollo
Fireplace burns on bio ethanol liquid fuel (Fanola), which does not generate
much heat, but gives visual warmth, making it suitable for living spaces, spa,
and covered outdoor environments. "

This guy has been around for a while. It's called the "Original Tea Stick" and made by a company called Gamila http://www.gamilacompany.com/. Only $18. Great gift idea!!

"The ultimate infuser for tea enthusiasts features intuitive "scoop-slide-steep"
functionality while it reflects the aesthetic of traditional loose tea service.
Durable enough for industrial use, it has no breakable mechanisms and is
constructed entirely of 304L stainless steel with holes small enough to infuse
the finest of teas. The innovative design provides optimum flow for perfect
steeping and incorporates a fill-line. The Teastick fits nicely into glasses
and mugs and is ideal for a 10-14 oz perfect cup of tea."

And speaking of interesting design, check out this modern twist to the typical dinnerware. Designer Ole Jensen from Copenhagen designed this for a company http://www.unicahome.com/

It's ODD! and I like it! Not sure how that would fee to hold the coffee cup or pour the milk, but definitely on my 'to try' list.

Last but not least, is this great 3D Drawing Kit from the same company as the dinnerware.
I believe it sells for $7 ?!! Crazyness! Imagine sketching this for your clients? ha! Love it!

"the 'incredible 3D doodle kit' comes complete with 3D glasses and a nifty little
pencil grouping that draws in red and blue so you have instant 3D doodles.
pretty nifty, huh?
the 3D drawing pad has the opposite tack- you draw on an
already existing 3D graph paper so that your doodles 'float' in 3-D. amaze your
friends! "
Have a great week everyone!
